The Course will be of theoretical-practical nature and will consist of the following features:
You Will Learn How:
1. CHOOSE the RAW MATERIAL (earth)
To know how to choose and to evaluate the constructive viability of the earth;
2. TO ANALYZE THE QUALITY OF THE EARTH
To accomplish field research: cohesion tests, plasticity, adherence, etc.;
3. ADDITIVES TO IMPROVE THE EARTH
To add natural material to the earth: straw, whitewash, cork, polishes, cow shit, etc.);
4. TECHNIQUES OF WORKING WITH “TAIPA”, ADOBE AND TABIQUE (earth bricks)
To manage the time, tools and equipment? We will try the use of different techniques;
5. WORK WITH CLAY AND BIO-FIBERS
To produce finishes of flooring and walls with several types of mortars;
6. EARTH FLOORS AND ROOFS
To create floors and roofs using clay;
7. SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF WALL CONSTRUCTIONS
To construct a wall using traditional and contemporary techniques;
8. GIVE ARTISTIC FORM AND COLOR TO THE EARTH
To mold the earth with the hands and to paint with a personal touch;
9. ECOLOGICAL CARÁCTER OF EARTH CONSTRUCTIONS
Advantages: environmental, bio-climatic, and of human health in building with earth;
10. THE CONNECTION OF THE EARTH WITH INDUSTRIAL MATERIALS
To use, to recycle and to build with industrial materials of low cost in a creative way;
11. LIVE IN A RAW EARTH HOUSE!
- To experience living and feeling the interior qualities of a raw earth house.
- To know how light, temperature and thermal changes effects the comfort, in a house conneced with the Nature!
There will be time to relax and to enjoy the contact with the Nature,
go to the beach, relaxation and meditation.
